Talking to those involved with Blonde, it’s clear that de Armas also put in her own work to transform into both Norma Jeane and Marilyn - the duality of the former "playing" the latter is explored in the film. "I remember we were shooting and Jaime Leigh would send me photos, and at one point I said, ‘Oh, are these reference photos?’ And she was like, ‘No, those are from the dailies.’ And I was thinking archival photos ," recalls Rob Pickens, the LA-based wig maker who worked on the five wigs for de Armas in the film. Social media skepticism turned to praise, and even some of the people who worked on her transformation found themselves doing double takes.
